Superdrug Haul

Hey bloggers :)

A couple of weeks ago I went a wander on my lunch break from work and just happened to end up in Superdrug (oops). I picked up a few things from MUA and 2 True. Since my little shopping trip, I have lost my receipt but I wanted to include the prices in this blog post for you, so have taken them off the Superdrug website. When I bought this stuff, MUA Pro products were on 3 for 2 (which I think is still on so hurry!) so I did get one of them free! Here's what I picked up:

2 True products are on a permanent 3 for £4.99 deal (or £1.99 each) so I also got the 2 True Expert Eyebrow Pencil in Shade No. 1 (the only shade) but because I've lost my receipt I had totally forgot I'd even bought this until now so that's why there's no picture included.

Have you tried any of these products?
If so, let me know what you thought of them in the comments.

The Beauty Blogger Tag

Hey bloggers!

I’ve had a really busy week and didn’t have much time to prepare this Friday’s blog post but I still wanted to put something up so I thought I’d go for something fun and simple – a tag! It's quite a long one but I hope you enjoy and let me know if you do it too so I can check out your answers!

The Questions:

 1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
Neither really. It’s kind of wavy/flicky/rubbish. More straight than curly though. I would love naturally curly hair but despite eating all my crusts it has never happened!

2. What is your natural hair colour?
Brown. It was blonde when I was little but as I got older it got darker.

3. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
I dye it myself. I first box dyed it when I was like 15/16 and have ever since. It’s currently a reddish-brown colour. I’ve never dyed it any extreme colour just various shades of brown (ooh how thrilling) but when I was 12 I did get the ends dip-dyed pink. Such a trend-setter…

4. Do you wear the same style every day or do you change it?
Is this still talking about hair or is this clothes now? Hmm…

5. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
I just paint my own nails. I’ve never had them done professionally.

6. How often do you change your nail polish?
About once or twice a week. I’m terrible when it comes to maintaining nice nails. I bite my nails and go for days with chipped nails polish. I do like painting my nails but then I get impatient and can never be bothered to wait for it to dry.

7. Do you polish your toes in winter or just in the summer?
Just summer usually. Not that we really get a summer in Scotland anyway…

8. How long does it take for you to put on your make-up?
When I’m getting ready for work I probably spend like 10 minutes. For more special occasions and night outs and stuff I’ll spend longer.

9. What do you do first, face or eyes?
I usually wake up late for work so for eyes I only wear mascara. When I’m doing this I’ll do my face first. When I’m actually making more of an effort and wearing eyeshadow and eyeliner, I’ll do that first.

10. Do you collect make-up or just buy what you need when you need it?
I do both really. I do have more make-up than I need so I guess I collect in a way but I don’t buy things I know I won’t use.

11. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
Never! I think they’re gorgeous but I can’t do them to save myself.

12. Do you do a full face of make-up every day?
Yeah usually unless I’m not going anywhere.

13. Do you wear make-up when you are home alone or with family?
If I was just staying at home all day then no I wouldn’t bother doing my make-up.

14. Will you leave the house without make-up?
Yeah I could and sometimes do. I prefer not to though.

15. How many high-end products do you have?
I’m not sure how many exactly. I have a few but I definitely have much more drugstore products than I do high-end.

16. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you're getting dressed?
For work I decide what to wear the night before cause I pretty much always sleep in so don’t have time for that in the morning.

17. How often do you change your handbag?
I have a couple of bags that I switch between regularly just depending on what outfit I’m wearing that day.

18. What time do you get up and go to sleep?
I try to get up for work at about half 7 but it’s usually more like 8. Most days I got to sleep at like midnight but sometimes I accidentally stay up till 1 or 2 then hate myself in the morning!

19. Do you work out? How often?
I don’t specifically ‘work-out’ that often although I do exercise. I walk to and from work most days which is about 20 minutes each way. I am going to try to start working-out though as I definitely think it’s a good habit to get in to.

20. Left-handed or right-handed?
Right-handed.

21. How tall are you?
I’m not sure exactly but I am pretty tall. About 5 ft. 10 maybe.

22. Do you speak a foreign language?
I learned French in school for years but I can barely remember any of it.

23. How many pets do you have?
I have three dogs. Two live at my mum’s house and one lives at my dad’s.

24. How often are you on Blogger?
I check Blogger pretty much every day although I only post twice a week.

25. Do you read comments on blogs?
Yeah :) I read every comment posted on my blog.

26. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
I don’t actually keep like a physical list, just a mental one!

27. How did you come up with your blog name?
I just randomly thought of it and it seemed appropriate. I’d thought of a few I wanted before this one but they were all taken.

28. What kind of camera do you use for photographs?
At the moment I just use a little digital camera I have. It’s a Nikon Coolpix S3300. It’s an alright camera but I am hoping to buy a better one at some point.

29. How often do you clean your house?
Not often enough! My room is usually quite messy but I’m not as bad as I used to be.

30. What is your favourite colour?
Probably purple of blue. Recently I’ve been really liking burgundy too.

31. Do you swear?
Yeah. I think I swear more than I realise. I’ll just blame it on the fact that I’m Scottish…

32. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
Well right now it is 00:08 (although I’ll schedule this post for the morning) so I’m just gonna go straight to bed after this.

Do we have any answers in common?

Thanks for reading.

Quote Cuff Bracelet

Hello bloggers :)

Today, I thought I'd share with you a little present I got the other day (to me, from me). I'm sure most of you will know and follow Zoella. I am a huge fan of her videos and blog and back in February, Zoe done a post on her "Rose Gold "Yes" Bracelet". I really liked the idea of having a kind of meaningful and inspirational piece of jewellery. I think a bracelet is especially good as it's right there in front of you as a little reminder when it catches your eye throughout the day.

A few weeks after seeing Zoe's post, I was browsing through Tumblr at 3am (because what else would I be doing at that time?) and saw a picture of this pewter cuff bracelet. I really liked it so decided to search it on Amazon. I found it for just under £15 with a couple of pounds p&p. The seller I bought it from is now sold out but if you search it on Google you can buy it elsewhere.

When you're wearing it, it just seems to be a plain silver coloured bangle; however, on the inside of the band, "it's what's on the inside that counts" is engraved in black. The package arrived within a few days. The bangle is quite big however you can bend and shape it depending on the size of your wrist. It came in a little black velvet pouch. Overall, I am really pleased with it. It just looks like a simple piece of jewelerry but it has a special, secret meaning behind it.

Do you have any meaningful jewellery?

Phil Smith in Cosmopolitan

Hello bloggers :)

You may remember my Percy & Reed in Glamour magazine post from last month and today I have another magazine with freebie post for you! I think I may make this a monthly series and each month I will feature the latest issue of a magazine and the 'gift' that comes with it. My Glamour mag post last month was only put up on the 29th and although this one is earlier, it is still quite near the end of the month. Next time, I will try to put my mag post up in the first week or so of the month, to allow anyone who fancies picking up a copy plenty of time to do so. As I said in the Glamour post, I don't stick to one particular title, so it will probably be different each time. This month, I went for Cosmopolitan.

Last month, I got a Volumising Oil hair product from Percy & Reed (which I have been loving) and this month's magazine pick also happens to include a hair oil. I didn't deliberately pick such a similar product but out of the few magazines available in the little petrol station I was in, this is the one I fancied most.

The product is a 'luxury argan hair oil'. It is the Phil Smith 'Hair Transforming Cream'. According to the back, you just apply a pea sized amount to damp hair through the mid-lengths and ends before blow drying to achieve silky smooth hair. In Cosmopolitan, you get a 50ml sample. I had a look on the Phil Smith website and the full-sized product is 100ml with an RRP of £10.99.

Personally, I've never tried anything from the Phil Smith range before but I have heard a lot of good things about argan (also known as Moroccan) oil as a hair treatment so I am looking forward to giving this a go.

Have you tried this product?

Small Asda Haul

So here is another random supermarket haul. Just a few bits of make up, skincare and jewellery I picked up at Asda one night last week. By the way, for any American readers, I think Asda is basically the same thing as Walmart. I'm not actually sure cause I've never been to a Walmart (or anywhere in America for that matter) but I know Asda is part of the Walmart 'family'.

Gold Necklace - £4

The first thing I got was this gold necklace. It's a bit different to the normal style of necklace I would go for, but I really like it and it was a bargain. If you remember my New Look Wishlist post I did in March, I included a couple of short, chunky necklaces. Although this one isn't really 'chunky' it is quite big for a short necklace (Am I making sense?).

St. Ive's Apricot Scrub (Blemish Fighting) - £3.60

I first tried this product a couple of years ago when it was the old packaging and I really liked it. I repurchased it quite a few times in a row and it was part of my regular skincare routine. I never used it every single day as I think because it's a scrub it would be a bit too harsh, but I did use it 2/3 times a week. For some reason, I just got out of the habit of buying it but recently I've missed it so I'm looking forward to having it as part of my routine again.

Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturiser -  £3

This is another product I've tried before. I'm not really too fussy when it comes to moisturiser. My skin isn't really sensitive at all so I've never had a problem with any moisturisers I've tried in the past. I remember liking this when I used to have it so thought I'd just get it again. Also I like that it's oil-free so it doesn't leave my skin feeling too greasy.

George Bronzer - No. 1 Radiant - £3.99

The next thing I got was this Bronzer from George. I got it in No. 1 Radiant. I'm not sure if there are other shades but this was the only one available in the store I was in. I tried this yesterday and my first impressions are okay. I did find it quite hard to blend in though and I had to work at it quite a bit to get a more subtle look but this might be because I am really pale. I think I'll definitely still use it though. I'll just need to make sure I only use a little bit at a time and do plenty of blending.

Blistex Raspberry Lemonade Blast Lip Balm - £1.74

I love trying new lipcare products. I have far too many but when I see kind of different 'flavours' like this I just can't help myself. I love sweet and fruity lip products so thought 'Raspberry Lemonade Blast' would be a good one to have. I am always buying new lip balms. I use them constantly and because I carry them everywhere I seem to lose them a lot and never actually finish them.

Gold Watch - £12

And finally, I got this little 'antiquey' looking gold watch. I just love the design of this and think it's so pretty. I don't wear a watch every day but I think this will be a nice accessory to wear sometimes and as I've said before I much prefer gold jewellery to silver and this will go with a lot of stuff I have.

Have you picked up any goodies recently?

Also, on a slightly random note, did anyone watch the first episode of Britain's Got Talent on Saturday? One act that seems to have really caught everyone's attention was Attraction's shadow dance. It is an absolutely stunning and emotional performance.  If you haven't already seen this act, I highly recommend you go and watch it (but have a tissue at the ready).

You can see it on YouTube by clicking here.

Glamour Fast Beauty App

I'm always looking for new apps to try out when I'm bored and I thought I'd share one of the beauty related apps I found since we all have that interest in common. Many magazines have realised apps and this one is from Glamour. I think it's been out for a while but I've only had it for a few weeks and best of all it was free!

The first section of the app is 'Get the Look'. As the name suggests, it gives you tips and tricks on creating classic looks such as the red lip and smokey eyes. Each look has a short video which takes you through what to do and what products to use. As someone who loves watching make up tutorials on YouTube, I have loved browsing through the videos.

'Update your look' is the next section of the app. It gives you a step-by-step guide on achieving trends such as  'The Coral Lip' and suggests different products that would be perfect to use.

You can then add the products suggested  in the how to guides to your wishlist. I've found this to be a good way to create myself a little shopping list for the next time I'm in Boots or Superdrug. The picture help so you know what to look out for and it gives you a price so you know what you can expect to pay. When it's added to your wishlist you can also click 'purchase' which will take you to a website where you can buy the product if you want to get it online.

What are your favourite beauty apps?

28 Colour Warm E/s Palette

A few days ago I picked myself up a little bargain on eBay. I've recently been admiring the Urban Decay Naked 2 and the Basics Palette after seeing them on what seems like hundreds of YouTube videos and blog posts. I do hope to buy one (or both!) of these palettes at some point but in the mean time I decided to get myself a cheaper alternative - the 28 Colour Warm Eyeshadow Palette.

(I've just realised I accidentally cut of one of the eyeshadows from the picture. The shadow in the bottom right corner of the palette is a black in case you were wondering)

The palette comes in plain black packaging. The eyeshadows are a mix of matte and shimmer. Each one is just slightly bigger than a UK 10 pence piece (sorry if you don't know how big that is buts it's a decent size for an eyeshadow). All the shades are fairly neutral and wearable so it's perfect for me as that's all I ever seem to wear (How boring!).

The seller I bought it from also includes a 7 piece brush set which comes in a cute little gold brush roll.

The 28 eyeshadow palette and the brush set only cost me £9.89 in total! I'm really happy with this little purchase and think its great value for the price.

You can find the exact one I bought on eBay here (with free postage and packaging!). The product comes from London and I think they ship everywhere in Europe. If you're outside of Europe and are interested in this, just have a look on eBay or Amazon as there are tons of brands selling what I'm sure is this exact palette (they may not all come with the brush set). I'd definitely recommend having a look around before buying. This version of the palette has no brand but I've seen some being sold with some brand name stuck on (usually meaning it's more expensive). Before finding the one I got, I saw this palette at various prices, usually dearer, without the brush set and with £4/£5 p&p depending on where it was coming from.

What's your favourite eyeshadow palette?

Collection 2000 Haul

So the other day I went with my mum to Tesco to help her with the shopping. (By help I mean I took advantage of the lift there, headed straight for the cosmetics isle leaving her to do the shopping and meeting her at the checkouts when I was ready to leave). She's so lucky to have a daughter like me.

I only got a few things. Tesco are currently doing a 3 for 2 offer on a lot of make up, so I picked up a few things from Collection 2000. Collection 2000 is one of my favourite 'drugstore' brands. They have a great range of prices and are generally one of the cheapest brands available. If you're into the whole blogging and Youtube beauty thing, you probably know of them for their 'Lasting Perfection Concealer' which everyone seems to have and love (including me). I didn't need a new one of that though, so decided to try out a few other products from this brand that I've had my eye on for a while.

What I bought:

  • 'Lasting Colour Gel Eyeliner' in Black - £4.99
  • 'Volume Sensation Lipstick' in '#12 Tea Rose' - £3
  • 'Cream Puff Lip Cream' in 'Cotton Candy' - £3 (free)

I've tried on both the lip products and really liked them but I haven't properly worn them yet. I wore the gel eyeliner yesterday and so far I'm really impressed! I applied it with the little brush it came with and the application was smooth and easy. I'm just hoping the product in the pot doesn't dry up too quickly as that happened with the last gel eyeliner I had and I could no longer use it.

Have you tried any of these products?
