Weekend Away Haul

Last weekend, I went away for a couple of nights with my best friend to a quiet little town in the Scottish borders. We stayed in her caravan while we were there and it was a lovely trip. I've been there with her once before a couple of years ago and it was nice to go back and see the place again. We only had one full day there, but luckily the weather was lovely and we spent most of the day exploring the town and checking out the cute little shops. While I was there I picked up a few things - mostly in small gift or charity shops. The nice weather also meant that I got to take some nice outdoorsy pictures of the items I bought!

First I'll start off with the make-up things: 

Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm 'Rose', Gift Shop - £5.99

There was a few different shades available and I was between getting this and another shade called 'Hibiscus' which is a sort of dark pink colour. As you can see from the picture, the colour comes out quite sheer and on the lips just gives a natural boost of colour while doing the job of a normal lip balm. The colour lasts surprisingly well and it's great for an everyday product as it does 2 jobs in 1 which makes it super quick and easy.

Pure BB Cream 'Light', Semichem - £1.99

Despite the recent craze, I have never actually tried a BB cream, but when I saw this for only £1.99 I thought I might as well jump on the bandwagon (although a little late). Although I got it in the shade 'light' my annoyingly pale skin still makes it look a little too dark in the picture. I haven't properly tried it yet but I'm hoping when I do the colour will be alright if I just use a little bit. I was surprised when I did this swatch on my hand at how far a tiny bit of the product went. 

Next, I just got one piece of jewellery:

Spiked Bracelet, Charity Shop - £2.99

Spiked jewellery seems to be everywhere at the moment and I just really liked this. I got it in a charity shop called the British Heart Foundation but it wasn't a second-hand item handed in by someone it's actually from the range of jewellery the sell brand new so you could probably get it if you have a BHF shop near you.

And finally I got a few things for my bedroom:

Jelly Belly Candle Tin 'Toasted Marshmallow' - £2.99 

I thought this little candle tin was so cute and it was on sale down from £5 to £2.99. My friend is always getting Jelly Belly air fresheners for her car and they always smell amazing. Although this candle scent is called 'Toasted Marshmallow' it kind of reminds me of popcorn. The smell is quite strong but I think it smells delicious and I definitely want to try more of these as there are a lot of different scents available.

Skittles Candle 'Framboise', Semichem - £1.99

I have never seen Skittles candles before but since they were so cheap I just couldn't help myself. They had lots of different fruity scents but since the walls in my bedroom are pale blue I thought I'd go for the blue one which is raspberry scented.

Wooden Key, Gift Shop - £2.50

I know this is a bit random but I just thought it was really cute. I love little things like this to display around my bedroom and I think this wooden key on a rope would look quite cool hanging from a door knob or something. I haven't decided yet exactly where I'm going to put it but I'm sure I'll find a place for it.

Glass Leaf Bowl, Charity Shop - £1.99

I found this little glass leaf shaped bowl in a charity shop and I thought it would be good for keeping jewellery, probably mostly rings, in.

Sweet Bon Bons Tin, Gift Shop - £1.99

In a little gift shops there was loads of these little tins and I just thought they were so sweet (get it?). There was lots of different designs but this was my favourite and, as I said earlier, my room is pale blue so I thought the pale blue in the design would tie in quite nicely with that. I just thought it was so pretty and has a kind of 'retro' look to it. I'm not sure what I'll keep in it because it is quite small but I was thinking it might be good for earrings.

Silver Tray, Charity Shop - £2

In another charity shop I got this big silver tray which I am going to put on my dressing table. I'm either going to display perfume or candles on it. By the way, it was surprisingly hard to take a half decent picture of this item because it is kind of mirrored so I kept getting glare from the sun or the reflection of my camera/ surroundings so apologies that you can't see the pattern on it that well!

So, that's everything I picked up on my weekend away and I had a great time!

Small Asda Haul

So here is another random supermarket haul. Just a few bits of make up, skincare and jewellery I picked up at Asda one night last week. By the way, for any American readers, I think Asda is basically the same thing as Walmart. I'm not actually sure cause I've never been to a Walmart (or anywhere in America for that matter) but I know Asda is part of the Walmart 'family'.

Gold Necklace - £4
 

The first thing I got was this gold necklace. It's a bit different to the normal style of necklace I would go for, but I really like it and it was a bargain. If you remember my New Look Wishlist post I did in March, I included a couple of short, chunky necklaces. Although this one isn't really 'chunky' it is quite big for a short necklace (Am I making sense?).


St. Ive's Apricot Scrub (Blemish Fighting) - £3.60 

I first tried this product a couple of years ago when it was the old packaging and I really liked it. I repurchased it quite a few times in a row and it was part of my regular skincare routine. I never used it every single day as I think because it's a scrub it would be a bit too harsh, but I did use it 2/3 times a week. For some reason, I just got out of the habit of buying it but recently I've missed it so I'm looking forward to having it as part of my routine again.


Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturiser -  £3

 

This is another product I've tried before. I'm not really too fussy when it comes to moisturiser. My skin isn't really sensitive at all so I've never had a problem with any moisturisers I've tried in the past. I remember liking this when I used to have it so thought I'd just get it again. Also I like that it's oil-free so it doesn't leave my skin feeling too greasy.

George Bronzer - No. 1 Radiant - £3.99
 

The next thing I got was this Bronzer from George. I got it in No. 1 Radiant. I'm not sure if there are other shades but this was the only one available in the store I was in. I tried this yesterday and my first impressions are okay. I did find it quite hard to blend in though and I had to work at it quite a bit to get a more subtle look but this might be because I am really pale. I think I'll definitely still use it though. I'll just need to make sure I only use a little bit at a time and do plenty of blending.


Blistex Raspberry Lemonade Blast Lip Balm - £1.74

I love trying new lipcare products. I have far too many but when I see kind of different 'flavours' like this I just can't help myself. I love sweet and fruity lip products so thought 'Raspberry Lemonade Blast' would be a good one to have. I am always buying new lip balms. I use them constantly and because I carry them everywhere I seem to lose them a lot and never actually finish them.


Gold Watch - £12

And finally, I got this little 'antiquey' looking gold watch. I just love the design of this and think it's so pretty. I don't wear a watch every day but I think this will be a nice accessory to wear sometimes and as I've said before I much prefer gold jewellery to silver and this will go with a lot of stuff I have.

Also, on a slightly random note, did anyone watch the first episode of Britain's Got Talent on Saturday? One act that seems to have really caught everyone's attention was Attraction's shadow dance. It is an absolutely stunning and emotional performance.  If you haven't already seen this act, I highly recommend you go and watch it (but have a tissue at the ready).

New Look March Wishlist

Too often I find myself online 'window shopping', lusting after clothes, accessories and make up. Today was no exception. I found myself browsing through the New Look website and before I knew it I had created a wishlist of 19 'Saved items'.

Here are a few things that caught my eye:

1) Tenki Cream and Brown Horse Print Dress - £19
I think this little dress is so cute! I really like the gold buckle on the belt so you could match it with gold jewellery as I generally prefer that to silver.

2) Black Retro Floral Button Up Playsuit - £19.99
I've only ever had one playsuit before but I loved it! Playsuits are great on windy days to save you flashing your knickers to everyone like you might in a dress! However one downside to playsuits is when you need to nip to the loo. Having to get half naked to pee is not ideal on a night out! I love the vibrant colours from the floral design against the black background on this piece.

3) Parisian Flocked Floral Lace Skater Dress - £29.99
I love lace and think this dress is so pretty. One thing I particularly like about this dress is the sleeves. I don't really like my arms, and when I wear things with short sleeves (like the two previous pieces) I will always wear something on top, like a blazer or cardigan. Because of the sleeves on this I think I would feel comfortable wearing it on it's own. This dress is available in three colours: Off White, Cream & Shell Pink.

4) Gold Monochrome Enamel Chain Necklace - £7.99
Most of the necklace I own are on long, thin chains with some sort of pendant on the end. I don't really have any like this. Short and chunky necklaces seem to be everywhere at the moment and I thought this loop chain design would look cool against a plain background and under a collar.

5) Grey Satchel Buckle Bag - £19.99
I love this bag. I think it would go well with so many different outfits. I wear a lot of black so the contrast black piping is perfect for me. I think this bag is a great size for an everyday bag - not too big or too small - and I also love the long strap option which can make it more casual. The zip and clasp fastening are also great to help keep your belongings nice and secure.

6) Pink and Gold Deco Plate Necklace - £8.99
Going back to the short and chunky necklace theme, I also loved this one! I love the gold double chain and the soft colours are so pretty. I also just think the design and shape of this is really cool!
